Last night I saw Cowboy Junkies at Humphrey's in San Diego, California. Humphrey's is a picturesque outdoor venue at a hotel by San Diego Bay. Cowboy Junkies are a Canadian band who I first saw about a year ago in Austin, Texas and was blown away. I've since bought the majority of their albums. Their music is hard to classify - there's a bit of everything. The feeling is generally mellow, but sometimes builds up to a heavier sound.

One Soul Now

Cowboy Junkies' latest album One Soul Now is one of the first I bought, and certainly the first I listened to. This album absolutely kills me.

I saw Cowboy Junkies Lay It Down at Amoeba Music in August 2004, a couple of weeks after I'd seen the band in Austin, and decided that sooner or later I would probably own all of their albums, so I might as well make one of our suitcases just a little bit heavier.

Pale Sun Crescent Moon

I bought Cowboy Junkies Pale Sun Crescent Moon on the weekend and I'm listening to it for the second time. It's an excellent album, which reminds me of why I like this band so much. One of the nice things is that their music is so difficult to pigeon-hole. It definitely falls into the realms of rock, with tinges of folk, blues and country - I don't want to try any harder than that!
