Zitilites

OK, I bought Zitilites by Kashmir on the weekend. I've listened to it once while concentrating on some work so I wasn't actively listening. It didn't make me take off my headphones and throw them across the room, and a parts of a few songs caught my attention. OK, let's try that again...

Wow. The second track, Surfing The Warm Industry, really kicks. Ramparts - yeah! OK, I like this... Heavy in parts, moody in others. Complex songs (as far as rock music goes) with interesting lyrics,.

There are a lot of influences in here. There's too much going on to be able to recognise everything - I'm not sure I can recognise everything: Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, REM, U2, Yes, ... However, that's not to say Kashmir don't sound original. If they are influenced by others, the influences are either deeply ingrained or serve to provide highlights in the band's sound. Parts of this album remind me of Black Lab's Your Body Above Me, although Zitilites is definitely less grungy - the guitar work is much more delicate.

I think Zitilites is rock music by lovers of rock music.
